Endings and beginnings: Reflections on the conclusion of the ER4CCI project

As the ER4CCI project comes to its end, let us take a moment to consider this journey towards enhancing the entrepreneurial skills of the workers in the Creative and Cultural Industries through game-based learning. Reflecting on our journey allows us not only to celebrate our achievements but also to gain invaluable insight into our successes and setbacks, and shape future initiatives.

With this project, we aimed to improve the awareness of young people of the importance of developing their entrepreneurial skills and offer them guidance on their career path in the CCIs. Our methods prioritized a gamified, innovative approach that appeals to the needs and preferences of our target groups.

Our first resource, produced in the first half of the project, is a Guidebook destined for entrepreneurship trainers who want to learn more about how gamification may help build youngsters’ entrepreneurial skills in the CCIs. It sets the ground for the creation, preparation, and animation of an educational Escape Room focused on one or several aspects of entrepreneurship in the CCIs. You can already download it for free on the project’s website!

During the project’s duration, we crafted nine Escape Room scenarios, constituting our second resource. Each scenario delves into a distinct concept or skill vital for entrepreneurship within the cultural and creative sector. These scenarios harness the power of game-based learning, providing engaging puzzles and challenges. Through these activities, participants develop crucial transversal skills, including teamwork, time management, and decision-making.

The Escape Rooms were evaluated with local stakeholders in the partner countries to ensure that the scenarios and trained skills were appropriate for the intended audiences.

Finally, after the completion of field tests, the partners gathered information that they compiled into a Whitepaper containing recommendations on how to use the project’s resources, based on testimonies and observations.

The Whitepaper, as well as the 9 Escape Rooms, will be available on our website after the project ends in March 2024.

The ER4CCI partnership is, of course, very proud to present the outcomes that they worked on. Without the teamwork and collective effort of all members of the consortium involved in every step of the project, none of these would have been feasible.

This project posed a unique challenge for all partners involved. While ARTeria and CEPS brought their expertise in the CCIs, Eufemia and Logopsycom contributed their proficiency in game-based learning, which means that each partner needed to support the others in the content creation phase. Ultimately, partners lacking prior experience in Escape Room production expressed enjoyment in the process, attributing their satisfaction to assistance from expert partners. Similarly, partners with limited familiarity with the functioning of the CCIs expressed contentment in acquiring new insights, looking forward to applying this newfound knowledge in future projects.

Thanks to the hard work and commitment of our team, ER4CCI reaches its end, delivering high-quality results that will hopefully empower youth workers to increase their knowledge of crucial entrepreneurial skills, to inspire and motivate the younger generation to pursue a career in the CCIs.

As we contemplate the milestones we’ve achieved, we’re deeply grateful to everyone who joined us on this extraordinary journey, enriching the ER4CCI project with their diverse talents, perspectives, and efforts. As we say goodbye, we extend our heartfelt gratitude and eagerly anticipate future collaborations. Until we meet again, farewell, and may your creative journey be filled with endless inspiration and success!
